Xiaomi has just launched the Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro, known as the “Flagship Killer 2.0.” They are both equipped with 48 MP main cameras, OLED panels with UD fingerprint scanners and elevated cameras. The Snapdragon 730 is powered by the vanilla K20, while the Snapdragon 855 is powered by the Pro version.
The screen is 6.39 “diagonal and comes with a resolution of Full HD+ and a ratio of 19.5:9. It’s almost bezelless, and that’s why the front-facing camera has made its way from the top side to the pop-up mechanism. The Snapdragon 855 chipset has been teased already, but we now know that the K20 Pro arrives with 6/8 RAM and 64-256 GB storage.
The Sony IMX586 sensor 48 MP camera is just one of three in the back main setup. It is coupled with a 13 MP secondary shooter with an ultra-wide-angle lens, while an 8 MP telephoto unit is the third snapper (actually placed above the first two).
As previously teased, it brings slow-mo video recording of 960fps. The Redmi K20 and K20 Pro elevating selfie camera have a 20 MP sensor and it has AI capabilities, of course. Like any other flagship, the Redmi K20 Pro’s 4,000 mAh-capacity battery also has fast-charging capabilities–bringing the 27W standard already seen in the Xiaomi Mi 9 and Xiaomi Black Shark 2. Weibing claimed on stage that in 30 minutes it could charge 58 percent and fill the power cell in 74 minutes completely.
The Redmi K20 devices are going to have Game Turbo 2.0 allocating gaming resources. Furthermore, the mode implements a smart switch for smooth connectivity and zero lag from Wi-Fi to 4 G networks.
The Redmi K20 is just the second smartphone on the market with Qualcomm’s 8 nm process chip with its Snapdragon 730. The 48 MP main shooter is actually with the Sony IMX582 sensor, although it has the same display and camera setup. The capacity of the battery is the same, but it charges at 18W. The price of the Redmi K20 is CNY1,999 for the variant 6/64 GB and CNY2,099 for the variant 6/128 GB.
For the regular phone, the Redmi K20 Pro will have four versions and a fifth option, dubbed Avengers Edition, will come with some goodies in the retail box. Unfortunately, Weibing said nothing about a limited edition launch or the price tag. Here’s a list of the pricing of the regular Redmi K20 Pro:
|RAM + Storage options||Price in CNY||Price in USD / EUR|
|6 GB + 64 GB||2499||$361 / €323|
|6 GB + 128 GB||2599||$377 / €337|
|8 GB + 128 GB||2799||$405 / €362|
|8 GB + 256 GB||2999||$434 / €388|
To lure gamers into buying this phone, Redmi is also launching an attachable gamepad for CNY179. CNY39 also has some colorful plastic-rubbery cases, with all the products to arrive at exactly 10 a.m. on June 1 for a flash sale.
